Who sells it, and how.

Authorized retailers buy from the brand. Discounters source genuine stock elsewhere and usually sell for less. Both are listed, labeled, and ranked only by price.

Authorized

  • Buys from the brand or its official distributor
  • Full retail price, sometimes less in store-wide sales
  • Brand gifts with purchase and warranties apply
  • Examples: Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Nordstrom, Macy's

Discounter

  • Sources genuine stock outside the brand's official network (the grey market)
  • Usually 20 to 45% below list
  • Brand gifts and warranties may not apply; batch codes can be older
  • Examples: FragranceNet, Jomashop, FragranceX, MaxAroma
